Today's assignment will help you get ready for the Photo Essay Assignment. Please start by reviewing the Photo Essay assignment. Remember that the photos for the photo essay need to be taken by you and cannot be old photos. Under no circumstances can you use photos found online. The photos will need to have been taken specifically for this assignment.
For this assignment, pick 3 photos you have taken for the Photo Essay assignment. They should be photos that need some improvement. For instance, some of your photos may not be well framed, some may be a bit dark, others may be somewhat boring.
For each of the 3 photos, perform some image touchups such as reframing, color correcting or cropping. Use a photo editing tool to do so (some free tools listed below). Here are some things you could do:
Take a wide shot and crop it
Take a wide or medium shot and turn it into a close-up
Crop out distracting objects or people from a photograph
Reframe the shot using the rule of thirds
Color correct the photo
IMPORTANT: duplicate the image before you start working on it!!!
Create a before and after blog post. In other words, go to your Wix page, create a new post and in your post show the original photo and explain what you thought needed to be improved. Then show the touched-up version of the photo and explain what touchups you performed. Do this for all 3 photos. Upload the URL for your post to Blackboard by Thursday, Sept. 26.

GIMP (a free cross-platform image editor & the closest you’ll get to a free version of Photoshop)
Adobe Photoshop Express (an online, lightweight version of Photoshop)
Canva (a free online photo editing tool)
Pixlr Editor (a browserphoto editor)
